I want to thank all the Panshanger residents who re-elected me to the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in May 2023, having already been a councillor here for four years.
I originally stood for Panshanger after trying to save Panshanger Airfield from development and after retiring from a career as a geophysicist. Unfortunately we couldn’t save the airfield, but I have been monitoring the planning applications and Local plan since then and have continued to speak up for the Panshanger Community. I will continue to try and make sure that the details of the plans are fit for purpose, both on the Airfield and in the Birchall Garden suburb to the East of Moneyhole park. I want to see good quality development with adequate infrastructure that responds to existing residents’ needs.
For the last four years, I have sat on the Cabinet Planning and Parking panel (which deals with the local plan) as well as the Climate change group and various other small groups and committees. I am very keen on progressing whatever measures we can to reduce the impact of climate change and mitigate the effects it will bring. We also need to encourage ways to protect our wildlife and environment.
I also want to make improvements to our town centre to make Welwyn Garden City an even better place to live. It has lost many shops and businesses after covid and the council need to plan a route to encouraging more people into the town centre to support more business.
I want to stand up for fairness and equality in the community, helping people to achieve their potential whatever their circumstances. That means listening to people’s opinions and helping with their concerns, so please come along to one of our monthly surgeries if you need advice or help. These are held on Saturday mornings in Panshanger Community Hall at Moors walk between 10.00 – 11.00 on the first Saturday in each month. Alternatively, do get in touch with me by email, or give me call.
