My name is Helena Goldwater and have served as a Hatfield South - West Councillor on Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council since my election in May 2023. I was also elected to represent Briars Ward on Hatfield Town Council in January 2025.

On Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, I have chaired the Biodiversity Cabinet Panel for two years. In this role, I have worked hard to implement green policies throughout the borough. I am particularly proud of selecting a group of environmental grants applications for funding where a range of schools and community groups have financially benefitted as a result.

I am delighted to have spearheaded a change in unpaid carers’ parking rights within the borough. Due to a team effort from myself, Cllrs Tim Rowse and Sandreni Bonfante, we worked tirelessly to push for unpaid carers to have permits, this was implemented in 2026. As a LibDem councillor and activist, I have worked hard to achieve palpable change for residents across Welwyn Hatfield, and will continue to fight for improvements across the Borough.

In my spare time, I play tennis, swim, cycle, read and am learning to roller skate at Roller City in Campus West. I also listen to three political podcasts on a weekly basis!
