I am standing as a candidate for Liberal Democrats for the South West ward of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council because I believe our town and Borough deserves honest leadership, practical solutions and a stronger voice in local decision-making. I moved to Hatfield in May 2022 with my family. We weren’t just looking for a place to live- we were looking for a place to belong. We found it here. I felt honoured that my daughter could grow up here and attend local schools. 

Living locally means I share and understand the many challenges that local residents face. I decided to stand for the Council as whilst ours is a tight-knit community, it often feels that most political parties care more about national issues than what is happening locally. For me, what you say is important, but what you do even more so and I know that the Liberal Democrat values best represent my own, especially their commitment to personal liberties and freedom of expression.

I strongly believe that more needs to be done to challenge the root causes of litter and fly tipping and that is why, if elected, I will continue to ensure stronger management of Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs), supporting the good landlords and challenging those who do not meet their responsibilities.
