Thank You Party!

15 Jun 2023

If you haven’t already heard, we had a brilliant set of results in the local elections.  We are now part of a cross-party administration that runs Welwyn Hatfield council – yes, the Tories are actually out!

Paul Zukowskyj is now the Leader of the Council, plus we have 3 more of our councillors on the Cabinet:

 Jane Quinton (Planning),

 Sandreni Bonfante (Environment),

  -  Duncan Jones (Finance and Property)

Labour have the other 3 posts.

Frank Marsh is our Deputy Mayor, ready to step up to be Mayor next year

In terms of results, we gained another Hatfield South West councillor, Helena Goldwater (from Labour), and the third and final councillor post in Welham Green and South Hatfield – Adrienne Nix.

Re-elected were Jane Quinton (Panshanger), Frank Marsh (Sherrards), Michal Siewniak (Handside) with the biggest vote of anyone in the district, and Simon Goldwater replaced Jayne Ranshaw in Peartree. Congratulations to all.

It is 37 years since Malcolm Cowan and Tony Skotttowe were the first elected Liberal Democrats on Welwyn Hatfield Council. Please do come along to celebrate this remarkable achievement – taking joint control of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council.
