A Town Council for WGC?

In April 2028, a new Unitary Council will replace both the Borough and County Councils.  The Government will decide in July 2026 whether there will be 2,3 or 4 Unitary Authorities covering Hertfordshire, but in either case the new authority may seem more distant than the current council.

In many parts of Hertfordshire there are Town or Parish councils such as Hatfield Council who provide some of the more local services but Welwyn Garden City does not have this.  Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are therefore consulting on whether people would like a new Town/Parish Council for Welwyn Garden City.  You can have your say here: https://www.welhat.gov.uk/consultations/community-governance-review-consultation
