Lib Dems Win Six Seats, Gaining Two New Seats

7 May 2023

After the exhilarating count on Friday, the official result is in; and an extremely succesful election saw us become the only party not to lose any councillors, and indeed the only party to take councillors from both of the other two major parties.

We'd like to congratulate Jane Quinton (Panshanger), Frank Marsh (Sherrards), and Michal Siewniak (Handside) on being re-elected in their wards, and we welcome our new councillors, Helena Goldwater (Hatfield South-West), Adrienne Nix (Welham Green & Hatfield South) and Simon Goldwater (Peartree) as they take up their roles as Councillors around the Borough. Congratulations to you all!

Thank You

We give a huge "Well Done" to those candidates who stood but were not elected this time. You guys worked so hard, and every one of you made a real difference to the political landscape in our wonderful borough. Thank you and well done.

A special thank goes to our truly wonderful band of volunteers and helpers. You guys help make the whole thing work by giving up valuable time to help candidates to do what they do best - we honestly would not be as successful without your help. You are wonderful people and we are so, so grateful.

Our final, and BIGGEST, thank you today goes to you, the voters. Once again, the people of Welwyn Hatfield have put your faith and your trust in us, by coming out and giving us your vote. This time, more than ever, it really mattered because the potential for change in our borough was in your hands.

We intend to do all we can to repay your trust, and we start with our first meeting of the new group of 14 councillors tomorrow night, where plans will be laid for the short and long term.

Thank you once again, Welwyn Hatfield.

From your Welhat Lib Dem Team
