LibDems now in second place

We have a very very good result to report from today's by-election in Welham Green ward, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, where we almost pulled off a spectacular gain.

Our candidate, John Elvy, polled 36.5% of the vote, a swing of 22% since the seat was last fought in 2006, and was only beaten by 55 votes by the defending Tories. Labour were reduced to 4th place and less than 7% of the vote.
