Flooding - signs not removed

After last Friday's rain, even more roads in Welwyn Hatfield were flooded.

Malcolm Cowan, LibDem councillor for Handside and Peartree, who has been leading attempts to get the problem dealt with, said 'This shows how little real work has taken place; not only was there flooding at sites I had previously reported, so were new ones nearby. We have seen flooding signs put up, but no action to solve the problems.

Flooding - why?

'The flood under the Howard Centre and on The Campus were still there hours after the rain, the Campus one still there over 24 hours later; this shows it was blocked drains that were the problem not the intensity of the rain. How much longer will we have to wait? Councillors were told last year that the problem was recognised and would be dealt with, but the reality is that it is getting worse not better. Herts Highways owe us a better service' he concluded.
