Borough Elections: Tony Skottowe regained his seat in Handside Ward.

The queen has confirmed Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg as the Deputy Prime Minister.

Mr Clegg will be one of five Lib Dem ministers in the new Cabinet, Conservative sources confirmed.

The Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats have formed a coalition Government.

A number of ministerial seats and cabinet positions will be confirmed for the Liberal Democrats in the near future.

The four manifesto commitments of the Liberal Democrats are safeguarded as far as possible in the new government.

Sandy Walkington increases Lib Dem Vote in St Albans, and almost takes the seat

In one of the best results for the Liberal Democrats in the whole country, Sandy Walkington narrowly failed to unseat Anne Main as MP for St Albans. Starting in third place in a seat which was Number 24 on the Labour target seat list, Sandy dramatically increased his vote while Labour support slumped. The Conservative performance was the worst in Hertfordshire in a contest which also saw one of the highest voter turn-outs in the country.

Last night was the final of the three televised Leaders' debates. Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Nick Clegg, debated with Gordon Brown and David Cameron about the economy. Subjects discussed included breaking up the banks, creating more jobs and reinvigorating the British economy.

Zukowskyj wins Forum Hustings as Grant Shapps gloss fails to shine

Yesterday we posted a story saying how the on-line snap poll during the show revealed how our Liberal Democrat Candidate Paul Zukowskyj beat Grant Shapps, who polled a poor 14 per cent in the poll. In that poll Mr Hobday gained 59 per cent, but by the end of the evening the exit poll showed Mr Zukowskyj (our Paul) winning on 41 per cent, with Grant coming second on 27 per cent and Mr Hobday on a mere 14 per cent.

Clegg Scores Second Win in Party Leaders Debate

An average of five polls conducted immediately after the Sky TV Leaders Election debate on Thursday night put Nick Clegg as the winner, with all instant polls showing him ahead of Gordon Brown. After the Foreign Affairs-led debate from Bristol dominated by issues like Iraq, immigration and climate change, Nick Clegg won 3 of the 5 polls on the night, building on his position after the first debate.
